Leia

The Rest of the Long Labor Day Weekend

Sunday morning felt more normal. Lisa was the first one up, followed by Leia, Chris and Ivy. We got to talk about the fridge and what we needed to do. We got to snuggle on the coach. Lisa fixed everyone whatever they wanted for breakfast. We just were together. Lisa decided it was time to force herself to go to the store for the first time in over a month to get our weekly run by herself. Thankful that Mimi, Stacy and a few neighbors have been willing to do store runs for us. She made it through the store without breaking down. That afternoon she forced herself to take the girls swimming at Mimi’s house. Chris opted to stay home watching golf and relaxing his back.

Lisa knows Chris has had one of us around 24/7 and he values his alone time to rejuvenate. Yet it is hard to leave too. As time goes and we get a treatment option and find out more hoping it will be easier. Thankful we both work from home for now; simply being able to walk into the next room to see him is comforting. A sweet friend called last night that went through hard time with her husband and told Lisa that her mind shifted a few months into it and she started looking at it as I get this time … Lisa is trying to shift her thoughts into we get to do this today and look at the present time as a gift and not focus on the what if’s that can leave us crippled in fear. Still praying for God to completely remove cancer from his body and extend life for years of memories together but we will seize each moment.

Sweet girls having fun in the sun

Night swimming is the best

Labor Day, we had talked about trying to hit a labor day sale for a new fridge but Chris was not feeling it so we skipped that option and stayed around the house. He did take Alex home since she spent the night and visited Wes for a little bit. Glad he was able to get out of the house. Midday, Chris asked if Lisa still wanted to go to Mimi’s so we headed there for lunch and a few hours of a change of scenery. It was just us, the Rhoads, Al and Mimi. We all chatted outside, enjoyed lunch, Chris sit in the portable zero gravity chair Al brought until he got hot, Chris headed inside and we walked down to the pool to watch the girls swim. Once the girls were water logged we walked back up to the house. The Rhoads left but Lisa chilled waiting on Chris to wake up from his nap; praying healing over him as he rest. When we got home we went for a walk up the street and back; it was not a long walk but it was a nice walk. Afterwards we all started getting ready for the school and work week ahead and prayed to hear back from the oncologist with more news this week from the latest pathology and mutation tests they were running.

Enjoyed a yummy family lunch

Sweet fellowship on the porch
