How did time go so quick since our Sweet Ivy graced us with her beautiful smile?!? She turned 10 and we celebrated all the joy she brings into our lives. She asked for days to open one gift before her birthday but we held strong. We typically we do 10 gifts for 10 years but mommy count got off so she ended up with 10 plus one to grow on so she could have opened one the day before but we did not realize it until her birthday. Ivy woke up all on her own the morning of her birthday ready to open them though. We cooked homemade cinnamon rolls and bacon per the birthday girls pick, sang Happy Birthday to our girl, and got to enjoy a few sweet moments with our little family. She opened a few gifts, gave daddy sweet birthday snuggles, and before we knew it we were running 5 minutes behind to leave for school.
Ivy’s 10 gifts were:
1. Happy Birthday Shirt
2. surprise mini brands
3. White Sheets
4. Grounded for Life Game
5. Horseshoe Earrings
6. LED lights for her room
7. Cow Girl Hat
8. Box of BBQ Lays chips
9. Plaid Shirt
10. Gigi PJ shorts
Plus one to grow on … $100 cash … hidden in balloons that they popped for a little extra fun
Ivy got checked out at lunch for some special one-on-one time with momma; daddy had a meeting so he could not go or would have joined us. She opted to go to Waffle House. One of the sweet waitresses there gave her a dollar for her birthday. We headed to Kendra Scout after lunch for Ivy to get a bracelet she saw the last time we had gone for someone’s 50 percent off on their birthday. Unfortunately it was not there any longer but she got to design one similar with a blue stone. She received an unexpected birthday blessing there too when a lady came and whispered in her ear to go pick out a pair of earrings for her birthday and gave her them. We wanted to run to the tack shop to look after that but our time was getting short so we decided to do that another day and went home to meet up with Leia, Mimi, Stacy, Katie, Grandpa, and Deedee.
Leia, Mimi, aunt Stacy, and Katie arrived at our house just a few minutes after we got home followed by Grandpa and Deedee a minute later. Ivy opened up a couple gifts but saved most of them for later so daddy could be there too. Sara had made caramel squares at Ivy’s request to send them for an afternoon treat. Of course we all sang happy birthday to her too so she could make a wish. Ivy wanted to go to horseback so we called it a quick afternoon. Grandpa and Deedee took the girls. Thankful they also agreed to take Mackenzie (her mom has been taking our girls for a few weeks). They seemed to have a good time there but really was not on the house as long as we thought they should be for the amount to time they were there.
Mark picked up the take out we ordered from the Ridge that night and when the girls got home from horses we all fellowshipped together with dinner. Since chris’s diagnosis we have moved our dinners to the den since the hard chairs hurt his back more so everyone found their spot to enjoy dinner together. We enjoyed having a house full. Ivy opened up the rest of her gifts. Mimi has a 10th birthday tradition to give each grand daughter a real ring of their choice but Ivy wanted to be different and got special earrings designed just for her, stirrups with her birthstone. Ivy has been enjoying making cups with Deedee and had asked Deedee/Grandpa for items to decorate cups so they got her all the items she needed to do it here too. The Rhoads got her the snow ice machine she wanted too. She pretty much got every gift she asked for! We are blessed to have such a loving family who has spoiled our girl!
Katie arrived from soccer as Ivy finished opening gifts and we all sang Happy Birthday to our birthday girl for the last time that day and enjoyed brownies and ice-cream. We all enjoyed just being together, fellowshipping. Mimi and the Rhoads headed home shortly after brownies and ice cream. The girls made some more loom bracelets and before we knew it the time had come to go to bed and end our day of celebrating Ivy but she has plans to extend her celebration into the weekend.
Sweet Ivy wanted to make sure everyone was awake for her to open a present
