25 Jul12th Wedding Anniversary

This year has been an interesting one in our world. While our grandparents and great-grandparents lived the Spanish flu in 1918, wars, and great-depression, our generation has never experienced a pandemic or war that has had a worldwide impacted like we have this year with COVID19 virus. Every person’s plans have been altered this year. There is constant feeling of unknown, even questioning if a store will have the supplies we need which we always took for granted previously. Life as we once knew it probably has been changed forever. One thing that has not changed is that I am honored and thankful to get to walk through this life and share it with the one I said “for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, from this day forward until death do us part” to 12 years ago. Thankful to know with all the unknowns and uncertainty in life now that we have each others backs, love and support each other come what may until the good Lord calls us home. Happy 12th Anniversary my love!

Mimi and Papa loved each other, everyday of their lives together. Papa fulfilled his vows to Mimi the day God called him home. Mimi is still loving and honoring Papa in the way that she continues to carry on with her life and love her children and grand-girls. Today would have marked their 45th wedding anniversary. Undoubtedly if he was still here, they would have spent it with us as we elected to get married on their anniversary a few years later. They would have had the same look in their eyes they had the day they said, “I do”, a look of love, respect, protection, and awe. As, Stacy said, “Mimi and Papa set the bar high! We are blessed to have their example of marriage growing up.” I think it was a little God wink, Mimi recieved her new swings on their anniversary and got to say happy anniversary to me while enjoy sitting out in an area she and Papa frequently spent time together, talking about their hopes and dreams together and watching their children grow. In our minds we believe he was taken way too early as none of us were ready to give him up but God’s plan is divine and we say may His Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Thankful to share their anniversary and carry on the special day as we  follow the example of their love.

From high-school sweet hearts to lifetime loves

Mimi and Papa built an amazing life together

Mimi’s anniversary present this year is sure to be a great gathering place for family and friends

Online statistics show that only 7% of married couples make it to their 50th wedding anniversary. We are thankful that Deedee and Grandpa were blessed to get to make it to their Golden Anniversary today.  Happy 50th Anniversary Grandpa and Deedee! While it was not the celebration that they thought they would have with COVID altering their plans, it was a great celebration! They are blessed to be able to spend the day with each other, be heathy, and celebrate it in the presence of their children and grandchildren. Time is one of the greatest gifts anyone can give someone since everyone has the same amount of time in a day and no matter what you can not create more of it. Grandpa followed a 50th anniversary gift tradition of giving gold with the new gold ring her gave Deedee but even a more priceless gift was hearing him say, there was not a day that went by that he did not love Deedee and knowing they both feel that way about each other. The love they have for one another shows in the way they watch each other when they do not think anyone is looking, care for one another, and serve one another. May their children’s marriages be as blessed as their marriage and their heirs have long, happy marriages as well. Cheers to the years your’ve had together and the years to come.
