Happy Father’s Day!

We were fortunate to get to see all our daddy’s on Father’s Day. Leia woke up and excitedly ran to jump on the bed to tell her daddy Happy Father’s Day with a quick kiss and hug before bouncing off to go down stairs to see Grandpa and Deedee. Mommy called her back quickly so she could get Grandpa’s card she had picked out for him. It was adorable how she stuck it behind her back as she heard Grandpa coming her way (wish I had gotten a picture!). He asked what it was but she would not give it up without opening it herself (she likes to help everyone open cards and gifts). We all got to play and enjoy being together while little Miss Ivy dreamed away. Ivy slept in! Maybe that was her Father’s Day gift to daddy to try to let him rest more (too bad Leia and Ivy did not collaborate on that one). After Ivy woke up we all enjoyed a yummy breakfast Deedee made before heading downstairs to play some more. Leia got to create all types of art with play dough, cook lots of yummies in the kitchen and on the grill, play chase and the big bad wolf, and with the barbie house. She had a blast while sister sat and watched everything Leia did. Chris ended up playing with his mom’s sewing machine (figuring out how to do something his mom said she was not sure about – he got some of his mom’s crafting genes). By the time we headed up to load up the car it was almost lunch time so we all decided to go to one of Grandpa and Deedee’s club houses for lunch before hitting the road (we wanted more time with them).

It was nice to have a little peace in the car as the girls napped on the way home even if their naps were half as long as normal. Luckily, they napped enough to be sweet that evening as we celebrated Father’s Day with Papa and uncle Mark. We were the last to arrive. Sara and Katie were already playing in the water slide so we found Leia a swim suit so she could join them in some water fun. Mark tried out his new grill and we all enjoyed yummy dinner together. Each grand-daughter got to open a gift for Papa. They liked his bean bag game and thought they should play it in the house. Of course Papa obliged and opened it for them. Then the girls sang “Happy Father’s Day” to all the dads so they could dig into dessert before it was time to get ready for bed.

When we packed up to head over to PTC, mommy and the girls forgot to get daddy’s cards and goodies but of course we did not forget to spoil him a little too on this special day. After we got home from uncle Mark and aunt Stacy’s house we got to spend a little time just the four of us and celebrate with Leia and Ivy’s daddy. The girls got to stay up late snuggling with daddy and mommy before everyone had to get to bed for school/work the next day.
