October 2021 Break

We had planned to go on Ivy’s 10th birthday trip this break but cancelled our plans due to cancer treatment and being advised not to fly. We tried to talk Chris into us driving to the beach which is closer but he declined and told us it could be a girls trip. Of course, we declined leaving him behind by himself. However we were yearning for travel or fun plans but it was not in the cards this long weekend so we woke up Friday with a day and long weekend wide open unsure of what the weekend would bring … in the end though the weekend at home was just what we needed. In hind-sight, it was perfect long weekend for us even though it was not what we planned. We were blessed to spend time together, there was not homework or schedule so we ceased the moments we had to laugh, we connected with other friends that stayed in town, got to spend sweet time with Mimi, and we all laughed a lot together which we all needed. Blessed to have these days with our family!

Friday morning the girls chilled out while Chris worked. Mimi met Lisa at Costco to drop off her car for tire rotation and to check one that had been low the day before. Lisa went back home to get Chris’s car for the day while Mimi headed towards the beach to drop Sara off. Lisa and the girls chilled out a little bit then headed for a day of fun with the Norris’s and to get the girls hair cut and colored. There was so much laughter, girls sold lemonade, they played in the pit, rode segways, swung on the swing-set and more while the moms visited. it was well past lunch time so we grabbed Chick-fil-A. The girls got to play a little bit longer then we headed home since it was close to time for daddy to finish his work call.

Daddy took Lisa back to get her car at Costco and shop then headed home since Mimi was stuck on the interstate over 2 hours due to a shut down. The girls asked about decorating for halloween when Lisa got back. The Comfort girls all headed to the basement to get find the decorations then took them out front. A hour later we had ghost, spiders, and skeletons decorating to make the house a little more spooky for Halloween. Lisa fixed dinner and we all sat around the table telling Chris about our days, laughing and enjoying sweet time. That evening we had a movie night watching “Lemonade Mouth” with popcorn and sweet family time. Throughout the evening both girls mentioned it was one of the best days we had in a long time. It was a great day! Thankful for this day!!

The girls did a great job spooking up the front of the house for Halloween

Saturday, was a nice cool morning so Lisa and Chris enjoyed coffee on the porch while the girls sipped on hot chocolate. We enjoyed breakfast outside as well then talked about what we wanted to do for the day. Chris declined going to a pumpkin patch and said he wanted to stay home but Lisa and the girls decided to get out to do something fun again today to make the most of the long weekend. First stop, was Gardendale to pick up Mimi for a fun girls day out at 4D Farms in Culman, AL.

It had been several years since we had gone to this farm. The last time we went it was a blast but this time was even better. They had added so much since we went last time. There was swings, air track, mechanical bull, roller coaster, corn cannons, zip-line, multiple slides, bubble stations, jungle gyms, mining, animal shows, and more. There was so much to do we did not get to do it all before the girls were ready but feel like we had a fun filled day. Chris texted on the way home that he was going to take a nap so we hung out at Mimi’s for a while before going home not to interrupt his nap. We snacked for dinner, rode the golf cart, girl’s showered, and enjoyed time in the swings simply fellowshipping. Thankful for the sweet time with our Mimi and that she joined us for a fun day!

4D Farm Fun

First stop was the mechanical bull … these girls did great!

Then the girlies headed to the bungie jump

Momma decided she needed to have fun too and rode the bull … daddy was not happy when he heard since she was suppose to not be on her leg very much and opted to ride the bull but the girls said you only used your thigh muscles

The girls had fun on the jungle gym and roller coaster

The coaster was a little jerky though so it was only ridden once

All the playing worked up an appetite. We had to wait over an hour to get burgers and chicken fingers. Mimi entertained the girls and get them treats while they waited

Lunch with some of my favorites

Ivy headed back to the bull and we got Mimi on it too

Of course in our last fun thing Ivy went back to the bull for her 3rd ride

Bubbles are always fun!

Swings always were Lisa’s favorite and the love for them continue with the girlies

Sunday morning, Chris’s team played at 8:30 so he settled in to cheer on the Jets. The girls played on their iPads while Lisa cooked breakfast. We had a lounging morning at home but headed to Mimi’s for lunch mid morning. It was good for all four of us to get out of the house together. We sat outside at Mimi’s and enjoyed the breeze. The girls roamed between the back porch, playing inside, the basement, and riding the golf cart. We head to head home at 2:30 though to get back for Olivia and her mom to pick up Ivy for her spend the night fun at their house.

They picked her up in the jeep with the top down for a cool ride. Ivy said they baked cookies, decorated them, played volleyball, monkey in the middle, played with barbies, listened to music, and watched TV through out the afternoon/evening. Bedtime was at 11. We Face-timed before bedtime and Ivy did great sleeping through the night but still woke up by 6 am so did not get enough sleep to be a pleasant child the next day but she had fun. Momma loved the pictures Mrs Sarah sent throughout the night!

Sweet dreams little ones and Face-timing before bed

Leia’s friend Anna Claire came to our house not long after Ivy left. They started off on the swing outside planning out what they wanted to do that afternoon/evening. They baked cookies, decorated them, watched “Series of Unfortunate Events” and discussed the books, played Wii, made bracelets, got in the hot tub, made up relays outside, enjoyed time in the playroom, went back to the swing, popped popcorn for movie night, and then put themselves to bed. We loved hearing the laughs and seeing them enjoy themselves.

Playing outside and putting themselves to bed … Lisa was surprised but it made more sense when they kept talking and did not go to sleep for a long while

Monday, the girlies had a fun day with their friends! At Olivia’s they enjoyed some chocolate chip pancakes while we had cinnamon rolls and sausage balls. Breakfast gave them all the energy to play all day. While the girls were entertained both Lisa and Chris worked. It was nice knowing they were having fun and we were being productive. We also talked to MD Anderson and got an appointment for Chris in November. Lisa picked up Ivy about 12:30 and lunch for our house. Anna Claire’s dad picked her up about 2 then we were going to go shopping but Ivy needed a nap.

After we let Ivy sleep close to an hour we woke her up to head to the stores. We started off at Kohl’s, Target, Halloween Spirit, and Costco. We could not find Halloween costumes but we did find a winter coat for Leia, costume accessaries for Ivy and Leia, and pants and a gel pad for Chris. The girls were crashing after the 4th stop so we headed home to have dinner. Lisa and Ivy headed to the hot-tub for some relaxation. Leia joined us after a little bit so we got to have fun mother-daughter time; wish Chris could have joined us but he is not suppose to get in the hot-tub during his infusions. We did get some sweet family time watching “The Voice” before bedtime but had to get the girls down at a decent time after their late night Sunday evening.

Good morning girls

Evening shenanigans with out little loves is always fun

Tuesday was our last day off. Chris had to go into the office early so was out of the house by 7. Leia slept in to 7:20 and Ivy slept until 8:30. I think the spend the night with friends wore our girls out! We snuggled and chilled all morning. Daddy got home by 9 and joined in the snuggles too. He fell asleep and we texted Mimi we planned on going bowling today so she headed our way for lunch and bowling. We had promised to take Leia to “The Ridge” sometime during the long weekend so fulfilled that promise then made a pitstop at a store, “Fun Stuff” to look around and finally to the bowling alley. Unfortunately, the alley was closed due to flooding so we grabbed ice-cream and went home instead since Ivy seemed really tired. The girls ended up playing with neighbors while Mimi and Lisa visited. Mimi headed home and Lisa went to organize the refrigerator until Chris got up then spent time with him enjoying the fall weather on the back porch before dinner and family time that evening.

Morning snuggles! Daddy was back home by 9 for joined in too before his morning nap

Afternoon and evening playing with neighbors is the best!
