Chris’s First Infusion

Friday finally came…the day for our first infusion. We did not know what to expect. We were nervous. We listened to the nurse and friends who have had infusions to know what to take in our hospital bag. We had plenty of snacks, water, blankets, and entertainment. Chris had to get blood work an hour beforehand to make sure several levels were good and he was healthy enough to take the infusions; this will be done before every infusion. It felt like a long time waiting to be called back with 5 different entry points. We wondered which door we would go through for the infusion. Right at 2 they called us back. We got a great room with a window for the first infusion and there was a recliner for Chris during the infusions. The nurse set up the IV then a pharmacist discussed the medications with us and went over the possible side effects before starting. We had to sign that we understood the risks for side effects; praying Chris’s body responds to the medicine without the nasty side effects. Thankful he napped during part of the infusion to pass the time quicker. It was not nearly as cold as everyone told us in the room. We expected the infusion to take a little longer than it did but we were thankful when it took about 45 minutes shorter than expected and we got to head home. Chris seemed to tolerate the medicine well. Now we wait to see how his body responds the next few weeks. Praying blessings over him and our family.

Love this man! Honored to get to hold his hand and do life with him.
His sweet girls each made him a bracelet to wear at each treatment.

First treatment going in and prayers to our good Lord to heal Chris on this side of Heaven. This prayer was one of the first ones someone told Lisa to pray over Chris after they found out about his diagnosis. Praying the Lord heals Chris and we get to give God all the praise for his healing

The girlies spent the night with Mimi since we were not sure what effects the drugs would have on Chris. Thankful the girlies enjoyed their evening and Chris had minimal side effects from the treatment that evening. Praying he continues to be healthy and tolerate with medicines without the nasty side effects that are possible with the medication
