27 MayMemorial Day Weekend (2019)

Temperatures were record breaking during Memorial Day weekend so we were thankful Mimi always welcome us and we got to spend part of each day of the long, hot weekend at Mimi’s pool. Grandpa and Deedee got to join us too since they came to visit us. They got to see our new porch and meet Buddy Saturday morning then they went with Lisa and the girls at the pool that afternoon to cool off and grill out while Chris stayed home to do homework.

The girls took a little break from the pool to play cards

We also ceased the time for a delayed Mother’s Day celebration with Deedee. I think she enjoyed the spa treatment more than Grandpa’s treatment

Sunday morning, we went to see the new Aladdin movie then the boys took Leia home while Deedee, Lisa, and Ivy went to JoAnn’s to get more foam for the patio cushions. Deedee started cutting them while Lisa and the girls got lunch then we helped stuff them. So thankful for a talented Deedee that made new seat covers since our old ones were stained.  That afternoon we went back to Mimi’s. We had invited our neighbors, the Talley’s to join us for a little fellowship and fun. We had a great time together and the pool was the perfect temperature.

The girls had fun pushing daddy in the pool as they waited for Alex Ann to arrive

It was a fun evening with family and friends

Monday was Memorial Day and it was a hot one. We talked to the girls briefly about why we celebrate Memorial Day, gold star families, and the sacrifice they made for freedoms we enjoy. Praying comfort over the gold star families we know and those we haven’t met yet and thanking them and the servicemen/women that have given the ultimate sacrifice. We were blessed to spend the day with family, playing in the pool and enjoying good barbecue together. Grandpa and Deedee drove back to Newnan that afternoon and Chris went shopping (role reversal) while Lisa and the girls chilled out at home. However, when Chris got home the girls had planned a spa treatment for him; Chris maybe missing Grandpa as he was receiving his treatment. However, the giggles and laughs we heard were priceless so mommy says he needs another treatment soon.

The girls gave daddy a spa treatment; the laughs were music to our ears
