Alabama’s governor called a state of emergency for all 67 counties Thursday for potential snow on Friday thus schools were closed and hopes raised in children of all ages for snow covered grounds, snow ball fights, and fun. It was fitting that the potential for winter weather since daddy was out of town (seems that is when it happens). Thursday night after gymnastics we got together with the Rhoads’ clan for dinner and the girls decided they should have spend the night parties since we did not have school. Ivy went with Sara and Katie stayed at our house with Leia. The girls played great together! Thankful we moved closer and can play more often.
Spend the night fun with cousin Katie

Friday, the first thing Leia did was look outside to see if there was any snow (it was not suppose to hit till Friday afternoon). They played during the morning hours then Lisa took the girls to Stacy’s so Mark could watch them while he worked while Lisa and Stacy grabbed last minute provisions to be snowed in the house. Lisa tried to tell them the Rhoads and Mimi/AL they should come have a snow party at our house but everyone wanted to be at there house if weather hit. However, our plan was to play at our house until they saw the firsts speck of precipitation come from the sky and the temperature dropped to freezing. As soon as we got done at the store we headed to pick the girlies up to go back to our house so uncle Mark could work in peace and quiet. Well, it started sleeting and temperature dropped as soon as we got into the house those the Rhoads went home. Leia and Ivy were a little sad so Lisa pulled out the sleds, snow man kit, and snow suits she had bought for winter weather fun. It cheered them up and they got decked out to go stand in the sleeting rain that was only a little tease since it stopped after 5 minutes then nothing. To pass the time we all enjoyed lunch, did homework, girls had a treat, watched TV, played, etc … just waiting and hoping for snow to arrive. Late in the afternoon our neighbors came to play for a little bit to pass the time. Then after they went home we baked a cake and had dinner. Finally late that evening it started snowing and we bundled up to get out and play in the dusting we received. We sled with the neighbors, threw snow at one another, and Ivy made snow angels. Sweet Ivy was over the cold not long after we went out and told us how much she missed daddy so one of us could go inside with her and the other stay outside with Leia; she did end up going inside to play while mommy and Leia sled infant of our house after almost a hour outside. Leia declared she was a “outside girl when there is snow”. After about a hour and a half Leia was ready to go in with sister, Emma, and Maddie who all had gone to play in the playroom. Lisa came in and made hot chocolate for them to warm up then they requested snacks that turned into a second dinner. It may have only been a little dusting of snow but we made the most of it and had a lot of fun.

Finally there is a dusting of snow!

Of course we headed straight out in it

Leia wanted to sled! Only way we could keep Ivy outside was let her make snow angels since she is our little angel

Mommy and Ivy sledding. Ivy was not into it like Leia and was a little scared but did it about 8 times with mommy 🙂

Leia was a pro! She let mommy go with her once. However she would not do the big hill, she stuck to the small slope and medium one.

Ivy enjoyed making snow/ice angels while Leia sled

Warming up inside. Lisa served hot chocolate and popcorn then it turned into pasta, ham, and fruit to the hungry little snow girls
The girls wanted to walk their friends out so we got to play in the snow one last time that night till Ivy pitched a fit after a snow ball was thrown at her.
Saturday morning, as soon as Leia woke she was at the window wanting to go back out to play. So we started getting dressed to head out. We sled a few times then headed in since it was a brisk 13 degrees outside and we needed breakfast. Lisa fixed a big breakfast to give us all energy while the girls played. Then we ate and the girls disappeared to the playroom while Lisa cleaned upstairs a little since we had left it a wreck after all our playing, entertaining, snow fun, and we dropped a bottle of juice in the floor.
Leia woke up ready to get back out in the snow/ice. Sweet Ivy said okay and joined in too. Um, it was 13 degrees in Alabama (lower with the wind chill)

Where we sled last night in the day light. There is a double hill that you can do but the girls were not up for it but it was still super fun.

This girl loves the snow and being out in it

Girls entertained themselves while mommy did breakfast

Silly Ivy said to make a silly face for a breakfast selfie

Back outside after breakfast and warming up. It warmed up to 25 degrees but the neighbor said it was 10 degrees with wind …. brrrr but fun
Eating icicles is always fun! We hunted for them around the house and the girls ate them. Mommy got one but Ivy stole it
Sweet Ivy posing and dragging her sled

Ivy preferred holding the sleds this morning instead of sledding. Mommy talked Leia into swinging before we went back in to warm up
Girls warmed up together while enjoying the cake Leia made yesterday and iced while mommy was cooking breakfast. Then they got to play in the house a little while before our neighbors went home and we cooked lunch. Sweet Ivy played more in the house while Leia took some chill time with electronics before talking mommy into taking her back outside.

Leia really loves to be outside in the cold with snow! Ivy not so much she watched us through the window from the warmth of the house

We played decorate the snowgirl inside since there was not snow to build a snowman outside

Then our game of uno turned into wrestling match and jump on mommy

We were so excited with Daddy got home! Everyone was talking about how icy the roads were and there is a hill a few cars had issues with on the way to our house so we were praying he made it safely. Mommy had talked Leia into coming in earlier that day by telling her we needed to save some of the snow/ice for him too so of course Leia was ready to bundle up to go out in the cold to have fun with daddy in the cold too

Daddy got snow/ice to throw at mommy too

Snack time after all the play time outside … Love these girlies more than anything in this world

Sunday morning we woke to a brisk 13 degrees outside and ice still on the roads. Thankful we bought plenty of stuff to chill out at the house for a few days. Breakfast was a joint effort since we all shared kitchen responsibilities to enjoy a big family breakfast on the cold day. The morning was spent with everyone doing what they wanted before we went to visit Sara and Katie for a little break from our house. We only went over a hour or two before we headed home since it was refreezing and we did not want to travel on icy roads. Even though school was delayed 2.5 hours on Monday we all went to bed early after the long, fun weekend.
Little morning fun, sisters snuggling
Fun with Sara and Katie

So glad daddy is home!

We had the same weather here! Glad the girls enjoyed the snow!! Love, Aunt Joy
