The last couple days before Christmas break begins and class Christmas parties

Last week of school before the girls get out means busy week at school celebrating Christmas with their friends. Leia has had Polar Express Day, class party, and game day. Mommy was lucky and got to go to the class party. We were told to get there at noon but when Lisa arrived at 11:50 the party had started; they must tell time like Grandpa and Daddy ;). Lisa jumped right in though and helped pass out the sugar cone Christmas tree activity and missed getting the individual picture of Leia but we got a couple snaps in of the activity time. Loved seeing all the different decoration on the trees. They were going to play bingo but the parent bringing them up forgot the sheets. Luckily, Lisa likes to over plan (even when it is not her’s to plan), so the kids got to make snowman ornaments to take home (although it felt unorganized since there was little pre-sorting to pass out the supplies). All the kids seemed to enjoy it though so we will count it as a success. Each of the ornaments were unique like the tress. There are great artist in the class. What is a party without yummy food? Next up was snack time with Christmas light cupcakes, chips, and fruit before they got to read their reindeer mail from all their friends. The party came to a end quickly after that as the first graders all headed outside for recess to run off some of the sugar. As soon as Leia arrived home she sprinkled her mail all over her room to remember her sweet friends during the holiday break. Thankful, Lisa got to go enjoy the party with Leia.

The night of Leia’s party, Mimi took us for our annual movies at Alabama Theather. The building is so buestiful and The organ is simply amazing to hear. This year we went to watch the movie Elf. Daddy was traveling home from his trip this week so he missed out on the fun but both the girls said they liked it. However, it was a late night for sweet little Ivy who bobble headed it towards the end but managed to stay awake eating popcorn during the movie and zonked out on the way home. Leia stayed awake by not sitting still and eating popcorn then sang on the way home.

Not sure how Mark escaped being in a picture with Sis and me both

Wahoo, Friday, the last day of school this year; Yippee! I am not sure if Mommy or the kids are more excited. It was also Ivy’s class party day. She has such sweet little friends in her class and just loves them all. When they came into the classroom snacks were waiting for them to enjoy. After having lunch they got to make a ornament then open their present each one of them received before Ivy gave Mrs Peggy, Mrs Stegall, and Mrs Jill their gifts before Ivy headed home with Mimi to start her 17 day Christmas break.

Friday night to kick off the Christmas break we took the girls on a one-on-one date nights. Leia and Daddy wanted to go see Star Wars while Ivy and Mommy cared nothing about seeing that movie. So our Star War nuts went to their movie to enjoy their show even though Leia seemed more excited about the popcorn and icy than movie itself. After the movie daddy took Leia out to dinner at Moe’s to top off the date night. Ivy decided her date night should be a night in baking. She decided to make brownies since she wanted to lick the bowl. Then we moved onto gingerbread cookies. She had a blast making them, rolling out the dough and using the cookies cutters. The cookies needed to cool before we could decorate them so we we decided to cook breakfast for dinner. After eating though Ivy forgot about the cooked and decided we should have a game of chase before snuggling with trash popcorn and a show on the couch. Right after the show finished it was back to chase and a round or ten of the rug game. Next up on Ivy’s date night was a few games of Uno and Monopoly Jr. Leia and Chris arrived home as we were finishing one of the games of Monopoly Jr then they joined us for one round before bed-time. We are ready for a great Christmas break full of fun making special memories with family and friends.

Daddy-daughter movie date to see Star Wars then dinner at Moe’s

Mommy-Ivy date night in at home … baking, cooking breakfast for dinner, enjoying ‘trash’ popcorn watching Elena of Avalor, playing a few games of chase and cards
