We have not been as good at taking pictures and keeping up with the blog but have been enjoying our summer! There has bee lots of fun times with cousins and friends, swimming at Mimi’s and enjoying family time…it is what summer is all about…forget the bedtime and enjoy making memories. Here is a little catch up in July to capture a few of our memories, in no particular order just as we see pictures and reminisce a few weeks later. 🙂
The girls asked if we could have a camp out in our room so this is our version of a family camp out, we ordered a blow up mattress. Then we needed a tent to play in when we took it down, love their imaginations

Lots of fun playing and swimming with the cousins at Mimi’s. Most the time we were all in the pool so there are not that many pictures but it was lots of fun

We all took advantage of free bowling for the kids at a local bowling alley even if the girls opted to wear fancy dresses

They found doggies to ride at the mall and love it … been several times

Fun time with our friends (Mimi’s neighbors) and cousins getting ice cream from the ice cream truck. They refuse to drive up our road at home so the girls were extra excited they saw it here

Leia decided to put on a play for the neighbors so we even had snacks afterwards

We had lots of fun just playing at home this summer. The girls used their imaginations lots from playing animals in the den and making a cage (they said we needed a picture and left this out as long as we would let them) to occasional playing “it’s a hard knock life for us” which helps clean the house up.

We threw birthday parties for several of our stuffed animal friends (only pictured one for blog)

Leia having fun playing with daddy, I think he got hot under all those pillows

Daddy got snuggles too and the girls are super sweet to each other, praying they are always close and look out for each other like they do now

Putting their best sisters necklaces together … we are blessed

Love these girls!

She is cute having a conversation with Minnie

They have great imaginations

Leia is enjoying art lately

And of course we have made lots of forts

The playroom and dress up continued to be a hit too

This is what our girls did this summer while mommy worked out at the gym

Leia and Ivy also got to spend the night a Mimi’s quite a bit. We had some daycare issues so Mimi helped us out when Lisa worked. The girls enjoyed not going to daycare when Lisa worked and getting spoiled by Mimi. Mommy and daddy enjoyed getting pictures and updates throughout the day when we had to work

Most of the time when they leave Mimi’s at least one little muchkin falls asleep

We got our first veggies from our ‘garden’. Leia likes helping water it and was so excited we got something. Next year we may really make a small garden, this year we stuck a few veggies in the ground to see if anything would produce. It did so now if Leia still wants a garden next year mommy promised we would make one.

Ivy was so excited about the moo moo caw at Chickfila. We went by there on the way to the gym and she spotted him inside and had a come apart to see him so we ended up going up, dressed like a cow at lunch for free chickfila. They may have talked daddy into going back that evening but I can not remember as this is getting typed but she still asks when the next time she can wear her moo moo outfit up there and get free chickfila again.

We got to go to our friends grandmother’s pool that had a high dive, fast waterside, a balance beam over the water, and toys like at a park. Ivy was fearless! She went of the high dive and slide like it was no big deal. Leia was a little more cautious and it took some coxing but eventually did it. It was a fun time and something a little different. We went a few times this summer and girls loved the new toys.

Lisa and Ivy had a date night to the Baron’s game since Chris and Leia did not want to go with the children workers from church. It was fun having some one on one time with each other. Daddy and Leia went to dinner and watched Star Wars, a great father-daughter night too.

One Saturday after swimming most the day we decided to go to the civic center in Gardendale for a Dr Suess musical. It was pretty good but about half way through I think the kids were ready to go.

We found a awesome, fun place fore the kids called “Let’s Play”. It has a play thing like at Chickfila or McDonalds time 10 plus fun blow up slides, jumpiness, trampolines, rock wall, ropes course, and swings. This will be one of our fun places to go, especially since it is just a few miles from the house.

Of course we shared the news with friends and had several playdates and met new friends there too

It was a big hit with everyone

Gigi came to visit us before they went to Tybee Island. We loved getting to see her, Deedee, and Grandpa for a couple days!

We celebrated our anniversaries with the family in town at Texas de Brazil on July 25th. It was our 7th anniversary, Deedee and Grandpa’s 45th, and would had been Mimi and Papa’s 40th. We are blessed to be able to spend time with our family and celebrate with them. There was a hole in the group without Papa, how I wish our Papa was here to celebrate. Thankful for this day when each of the beautiful couples said, “I do” and the journey began for each of our lives and how each of our lives intertwine. Life is a short journey and passes quickly, love each other unconditional and forgive when you need too. Treasure the time you have with everyone you love!
We neglected to take a picture this year so I grabbed the last one with Papa out celebrating with us. This year the kids and Rhoads were with us too.
