Waiting for the Snow

Leia and Ivy heard the snow forecast and wanted to get to play in the snow. Schools, daycares, and offices closed across the area in preparation of snowmaged0n 2015. Mimi’s house was predicted to get 2-6 inches while our house was on the edge of snow or just rain so we loaded up to stay at Mimi’s in hopes of snow when we woke up Wednesday morning. The forecast changed, daddy’s trip was canceled, and the snow prediction moved to the afternoon which all let Daddy join us for the snowed in party. We waited all day for the first snow flake, by 6:30 in the evening there still was no snow in Gardendale, 10 miles north was covered but it looked like we would be missing it so we gave up and headed home since the roads were still drivable with two disappointed little girls. Not long after we got home Mimi texted a picture that it was snowing in Gardendale; we did not tell the girls since did not want to disappoint them more than they were already. They had been talking about playing with Mimi in the snow most the day. We got our girlies night night then heard it was snowing in Inverness while they were still playing in their beds. After looking outside Mommy immediately said we have to get them up to play for a little bit just in case there was not snow on the ground the next morning (daddy thought mommy was more excited than the girlies). As we were getting our winter gear on Leia told us it was snowing because she prayed for it; God does listen to our prayers sweet girl :). Had a blast playing with our little girls as the snow was falling, watching them throw snowballs at daddy then me when they could not find him, and creating a fun memory for our little family. We all were sad Mimi did not get to play with us after we waited all day with her, Mimi sent us a picture of her snowman she made but we told the girls we could not drive back out to Mimi’s tonight. It was a good choice to get them up as the snow was melting quickly. At 6:30, Leia and mommy was up and thought we would go outside but when we looked Leia asked where the snow was at and said, “Mommy, you remember when I said the snow was pretty; it is not as pretty melting…there is not enough snow to play now” then Leia went on to ask about going to Mimi’s since she probably got more snow than us but Mimi’s snow was melting like ours and she went to work. Mommy did get the bucket we put out to collect snow for snow cream for us to eat the snow while we stay warm inside watching it melt and hoping for another winter wonderland this year.

Our girls were dreaming of the sunshine playing beach and ballerina a couple days before looking outside hoping to see the white stuff falling from the sky

We waited and waited for the flurries to come entertaining ourselves with iPads, games, movies, watching Ivy and Leia put on shows, playing hide-n-seek in the basement, and more. Mommy made them hot chocolate to keep warm while we watched for the snow and sweet Ivy poured it on her right after it was made while it was suppose to be cooling.  Ivy screamed it burned as mommy started ripping clothes off her to stop the burn; blessed it was not near as bad as the scream and a little burn lotion made it all better. After that little scare Ivy took mommy back in time as she napped on mommy a little while, miss the napping snuggles but love watching them grow and each stage of life we live.

Finally able to go out in the snow, a little after bedtime but mommy and daddy did not want them to miss playing in the fun white, fluffy snow

Leia was so sweet to help sissy build a snow man too. Ivy liked the snow but did not like that it was wet

Daddy took the brunt of the snowballs the girls threw and mommy had fun exploring the yard with the girls

As quick as it came, it left. At 6:30 the next morning it was disappearing, daddy went to work, and the girls needed a rest day to recover from the late night snow play
