Father Day

I miss my daddy and so wish I could had spent this Father’s day with him! I never imaged last Father’s Day would be the last one I would get to hug him and spend part of the day with him. Today, I reflected quite a bit on last year and what a great day – spent part of the day with Grandpa and Papa. We spent the morning with Grandpa and drove home to celebrate with Papa at sister’s house that afternoon/evening. Unfortunately, I do not have many pictures since my camera battery died but I was able to snag a few from sister. When I close my eyes, I can see Papa playing with Sara and Katie pushing them down the slip and slide as we pulled up; Leia threw on one of Katie’s swimsuits and joined them immediately. I sat holding Ivy thinking that my daddy was the biggest kid; he looked like he was having more fun than the girls. When he sat beside me, he started talking to Ivy and she of course climbed into his lap then he laughed with his little grin on his face that he normally had, especially when the grand-girls came around. I wish I could get a papa-bear hug one more time, hear his laugh, see his grin, and watch him with my babies. I love that man and rest in the promise that we will be reunited when I am called to our eternal home because of the promise God has given me and every one of His children.

Happy Father’s Day, Chris! The first gift he got was to get to sleep-in while Leia and mommy cooked daddy’s breakfast, he ordered. Saturday night, he requested sleeping in after he was a grump when Leia went and woke him up Saturday afternoon. However, he wanted his daddy day good morning after he woke up and called for me to send Leia in to say good morning. Ivy woke up a few minutes later and breakfast was served. The girls ate quicker than normal so they could take him his presents and even offered to open them for him and go on a scavenger hunt for the luggage for daddy and themselves. We tried face-timing grandpa and sent him, Diego, and Mark all Happy Father’s Day messages before heading to Mimi’s to celebrate with a few of the daddies in our life.

Of course, Mimi had surprises for the boys when we got there and the girls were more than happy to help them open before heading to the pool, enjoy a yummy lunch, and playing

We wanted to honor our Papa for the love he has poured out/into us and continues with us. After rest time, we sent balloons up to the sky at his grave to say Happy Father’s day to our Papa in Heaven. There was a special surprise for the grand-girls to open since he always let them open his gifts and liked to spoil them. As Mimi, sister and I were tearful on this hard day, sweet Sara reminded everyone, “it is okay, Papa is in heaven and he is happy.” Innocence of a child but such truth that he had the ultimate Father’s Day, celebrating with our Abba Father.
