One day it will be the kids waking us up but the last 4 it has been mom and dad waiting on the girls Christmas mornings. Lisa enjoyed the quite time in the morning, giving her time to reflect on years past and think about what is really important in life – Creating memories and being with those you love. When Chris got up we checked the weather then woke up the girls so they could see their new swing-set santa brought since the rain looked like it was coming. The girls were excited and were ready to see what santa left them. They must had been good since Santa brought Leia and Ivy everything they asked for – a new swing-set, cooking bowl, and baby princess. The girls opened about a quarter of their gifts from momma, daddy, Grandpa, and Deedee before we headed to Mimi’s for Christmas brunch. Mimi had started fixing it but Chris finished cooking when he got there. Lisa got to head to the den to open her stocking (her favorite thing at Christmas). The girls each got to open one gift before daddy said everything was ready for breakfast. Brunch was yummy! However we forgot to cook the traditional sausage balls (but we’ve had them more than just Christmas morning). Clean up seemed easy this year since there were so many pitching in to help. The girls were ready to open their gifts as soon as everything was straightened in the kitchen. Leia and Ivy are definitely slower that Sara and Katie! Leia and Ivy had each opened a few things when Sara and Katie were finished with theirs. Luckily, Sara and Katie were willing to help everyone else open gifts too. A little later we headed to Nana’s for a Christmas gathering there before going back to Mimi’s to play with our cousins a little more and sing Happy Birthday to Jesus.

This Christmas was different from the years past! We miss our family who are no longer with us but celebrated the Christmas miracle and ultimate gift given to us over 2,000 years ago together.
Happy Birthday Jesus! Thank you for coming to earth to give us hope!
