Weekend fun with Grandpa and Deedee

What a great weekend! Grandpa and Deedee came to visit. Leia had been anxiously waiting the day they would arrive all week and wanted everyone to go “watch daddy play ball”. They beat mommy home from work Thursday and got a few minutes of just them and the girls before we loaded up to head to the ball fields. Leia loves going up there to play on the playground then run around the bases after the game is over (I am sure Ivy will be right there beside her running before too much longer). Luckily, the park is located next to the field so we can play and cheer Chris’s team onto victory at the same time. Grandpa manned the stuff while Deedee and mom took the girls to play. Ivy loved swinging! Leia would jump from one thing to the next but of course mom and Ivy’s favorite was when she would swing with Ivy. When the park got crowded Deedee took Ivy back to the stands with Grandpa. Ivy was perfectly happy relaxing in Grandpa’s arms watching her daddy play. Leia and Lisa joined them not long before the game was over to make sure Leia could run the bases. It was adorable watching Leia help a 18 month old over to the gate to meet her daddy too so she could play with him (wish I would have had my camera).

Friday, Chris and Gene got some father-son time in golfing while Deedee and Lisa got to play with the girls. It is a treat for the girls to spend the whole day at the house and we all just needed some R&R so that’s just what we did. We did not get out of our pajamas until mid morning and played in the house. When we stepped out on the porch a few minutes Ivy and Leia decided they wanted to do bubbles so we went and put on old clothes to blow colored bubbles (they disappeared afterwards since they stain everything), played in the girls pools and sprinkler, and ran around the house before it was time for lunch. After lunch Leia and Deedee started coloring shrinky-dinks (it was a few hour process with the attention span of a 2 year old), Ivy ran around the house in her walker, mommy and Leia went outside and played/danced in the rain, Ivy played inside with dog-dog, Leia played baby with Deedee (one of Leia’s favorite things, Deedee normally always has to be the baby), and more. All the excitement ensured both girls took great naps to prepare for their fun night with Brittany and Will while the adults went to celebrate our anniversaries (see our 4th anniversary post for more). Dinner was fabulous! The company even better!! It is a blessing to get to celebrate our special day with both of our parents!

Saturday was another nice day. We hung out at the house during the morning hours just playing with the princesses of the house and letting them entertain us. Grandpa and Chris fixed the breaker box so Lisa’s air conditioner in the craft room would work. All the girls watched the shrinky-dinks in the oven so Leia could have her finish her bracelets.  After Ivy went down for her morning nappy Deedee, Lisa, and Leia ran to the fabric store to pick out some for fall clothes (yes, Leia picked out some too … her picks were princesses, Dora and Boots, and Tinkerbell). We are so fortunate to have a very talented Deedee to make Leia and Ivy custom matching outfits (mommy is a little silly about the girls matching but we can only do it when they are this small). Mimi and Papa had invited us to their pool party that afternoon so we enjoyed yummy lunch and fun in the pool for the majority of the day (sadly we neglected to get pictures). Of course that evening there was more playing, chasing, and fun at the house before the girls crashed from all the excitement. Chris had wanted to see Batman, something Lisa has very little interest in so Gene and Chris went to the movies for some more father-son time thinking the household would all be asleep when they returned. However, Deedee and Lisa were still up in the craft room having some fun of their own when they got home.

Grandpa treated everyone to donuts Sunday morning; yummy! (Leia even got to save some for the next morning). Mommy tried to prepare Leia the night before that she would not have all day to play with Grandpa and Deedee since they had to go home earlier than normal to get ready for a cruise but it did not work. Leia and Ivy had a blast playing all morning! Ivy was napping as Grandpa and Deedee left but Leia watched them leave the whole way blowing kisses and waving. Daddy went work, everyone to mimi and papas
