Weekend Fun

What a great weekend! Love it when everyone is healthy, mommy and daddy each gets regenerating time, and we have family time.

Lisa gets one-on-two time with the girls frequently since she does not work full time anymore (thankfully). Friday night, Lisa gave Chris the opportunity to hang out with our little girls for some daddy-daughters time while she went out with girl friends. Truth, be told it has been so long since Lisa had gone out without a baby she had forgotten what it felt like; it was nice to not worry about little hands knocking the drink over or trying to make sure everyone was happy at the table/no temper tantrums were thrown (although she would not trade a tantrum, smile, or minute in between the two with the girls). However, it was good to escape a few minutes to reconnect with friends and self while daddy held down the fort. Leia told mommy that she and Ivy both had a great time hanging out with their daddy while mommy was out. They read books and played until bed time then daddy got some “alone time” to distress.

Saturday, we got to go to a birthday party at the Birmingham Zoo. We were not really sure what to expect since Leia has not been to keen on animals and it started at 12:30 (nap time is generally about 1:15). Both girls did great and the party was awesome. Leia touched the possum and fer ret without any coursing, enjoyed cake with the birthday girl, then decorated a toilet tissue roll and put grapes, peanuts, raisins, and worms (Leia touched the live worms too)for some monkeys before everyone headed off on the zoo adventure (we are sure Ivy would had touched the animals if we’d let her). The whole family rode on the carousal together (I think that was a first), we got to watch the monkeys enjoy the snacks the kids prepared after a zoo keeper gave them out, ride the train around the park, and feed the flamingos. By the time all this was done it was 3:30; neither of our princesses had taken a nap. Needless to say on the way home both girls sacked out just long enough that they wouldn’t take a good nap at home but we had fun and called it an early bedtime that night.

Thought it was cute they held hands when they walked

Ivy rode in her stroller or in daddy/mommy’s arms; sissy would ride with her some as well

Then again maybe daddy should do it

After the flamingos it was time to go

After church on Sunday, we went to lunch as a family then mommy and the girls headed to the store and to Mimi’s house so Chris could work a little and have a him afternoon.  Leia was so excited to see Mimi! With tax season in full force she has missed her time hanging out and playing at her Mimi and Papa’s house! The only thing that would had made play time there better is if her cousins had been there to play too.

Mommy lost the pictures 🙁

Too bad weekends go by so fast
