Leia

My [Chris] Thoughts After a Week

Leia will have been at home with Lisa for a week tomorrow morning.  It is amazing, to me, how quickly time has flown by in this short week.  I stayed home Monday to help Lisa with Leia but I found myself back at work on Tuesday.

Fortunately we have a great support group both here in Birmingham (and in Atlanta) and Lisa’s Mom came over on Tuesday and Wednesday to help out during the day while I was trying to stay awake at work.  I regret laughing at everyone who said “Get all the sleep you can now!”  Though I have made it through the day at work without having to curl up under the desk there is no doubt that sleep is a scarce commodity.  Of course it is much worse for Lisa who has to get up each time with our beautiful daughter, Leia.

Thursday Lisa’s sister arrived to help Lisa and was a godsend (just like Sheila).  Stacy, having been through this same situation twice before had a lot of great advice for Lisa and I believe did more for her than any words of encouragement that I could muster since I have never been in the situation before.

I have one more week of work before I am taking two weeks off for the holidays to spend time with my lovely and wonderful wife and beautiful new daughter.  I am looking forward to the extended vacation and time to bond with Leia and provide any assistance I can to my amazing wife.

I also wanted to thank all of our friends and family for their support (no matter what form it takes).  We can not say “Thanks” enough!

Lisa, Leia, Sierra, and I wish everyone Happy Holidays!
