Sunday it hit us that school would start back this week. It is a time of year that our eldest enjoys while everyone else in the house not so much. Even though this has been the longest summer break in our lives with school ending abruptly mid-March during a time of unknown and fear of what could happen as a new school year begins we want to scream that our break was not long enough. During this summer it was great living a simple life without the hectic schedule. The time was a blessing! We were able to grow closer as a family, spend more time with our local family as well as with neighbors that we isolated with to keep us all from going crazy. Knowing that school starts shortly and for know our girls are on a regular schedule going 5 days a week plus the fact all the after school activities are starting back so we have less time together with those we drew close to these past few months a little sadness crept in momma’s heart. Yet there was also excitement and fear of the unknown at the same time; with all the mixed emotions we decided to focus on the here and now and enjoy living in the present.
We were blessed to get to celebrate our neighbor, Wes’s birthday Sunday evening with their family. We went to his favorite restaurant, Habaneros and had them sing happy birthday to him. Then we headed back to their house for cake and ice-cream after he opened his birthday blessings. Of course we played a round or two of Catan but we did not let the birthday boy win. It was a fun celebration!

Lisa left the party early to pick Leia up from her friend’s party. We needed to do a little work at home getting ready for our new freezer by emptying the old one and moving it out. We made it fun though and let it snow on us in the clean out

Monday was another work day and anything and everything at work was going wrong from files disappearing or pulling up blank to not being able to access work programs. The girls were perfectly happy though chilling in their PJs all day watching TV or playing games together but by the time the afternoon came they wanted something fun to do too. Even though it was a rough morning by the time the afternoon came around momma was determined to set a fun plan for the remaining days of summer so we each wrote down things we wanted to do then compared our lists and developed a plan or schedule. One thing on all the ladies list was a night swim and with 3 nights before school the only night that worked was Monday evening. We asked daddy if he was interested in swimming too but he said he did not want to so the Comfort ladies headed to Mimi’s for a girls evening swim. We also planned to pick up dinner on the way to enjoy dinner on the porch but had 15 minutes to spare so ended up buying the girls cowgirl boots while we killed time. Mimi was ready for us when we arrived and we all sat and ate together then everyone got in the pool. We played volleyball and splashed around before the little ladies were ready to go ride the golf cart until dark then got baths and visited a little before heading home for the night. Thankful for a low key, fun girls night with Mimi.

Tuesday morning we knew mommy and daddy had to work but momma only worked 4 hours so we could mark another last week of summer off our bucket list, pedicures. The little ladies made mask lanyards for school after we finished with our spa treatment and then we had a little R&R in the den watching TV until dinner time. That evening the whole family went to the barn to attend the volunteer training that is required for the fall classes. We did manage to get everyone in bed by 8:30 to start backing the bed time up a little to prepare for school starting again.
First spa treatment for momma since February

Girls got their nails and toes done while mommy just stuck with a pedicure

Love each of their unique styles for mask lanyard and that they are getting themselves ready for school
Wednesday was the meet the teacher day. The girls were excited to wake up and sign into clever to find out their teacher names. Ivy got Mrs Mize and Leia got Mrs Darnell/Mrs Day. We were not suppose to take pictures per a email from VHEW (even though VHEE and VHED both took pictures) but we did sneak a picture or two. Afterwards we went to the store to get stuff to make more lanyards for the first day of school teacher gifts. The girls worked on the gifts until lunch and then want to start watching a new series on Netflix about horses. Late that afternoon we headed to a ‘Tack Shoppe’ to get the girls some beginning riding gear. They were excited to get riding pants, gloves, helmets, and boots. They spent the rest of the evening at the house preparing for school to start tomorrow. Daddy ran out to pick up dinner while mommy ran out to get bagels for in the morning. We did manage to pack their school bags, lunches, make their first day fo school sign, have a family dance party, and all pray together over this school year before the girls bedtime. What a great way to spend the last few days of summer break. Even though this was a longer summer break than normal, mommy never things it is long enough and always wishes for one more week of summer with our girls.
