We had the opportunity to go to a barn one of Leia’s friend’s mom works at mid-October. Leia is somewhat leery of animals other than her dog-dog, Sierra despite the fact that I have taken her to zoo classes and petting farms since she was old enough to go. Leia is normally the one in the group that will not touch the animal until everyone else has and then she MIGHT touch it. Whereas her friends Kellum, Annie, Camille, and Blake seem to have no fear. Leia stood back at first not sure to think so Stephanie went and got the carrots that Keri had brought to get the kids interacting with the house, Bill.
Leia took the carrot and held onto it tight while she boys proceeded to give the carrot to Bill. Leia decided she should gnaw on it herself and not share with Bill. Lucky for Bill all the kids did not feel that way.
Next Ms Keri was going to let the kids sit on Bill but Leia would have nothing to do with it at first. Brave Kellum climbed up on the horse though and after Leia saw him she said she was ready.
However, Leia got shy when Ms Keri picked her up and started to withdraw. Keri gently started petting Bill and got Leia to touch him then she was ready to climb up.
After Leia’s turn it was Blake’s to sit on Bill
Next up on the barn the kids got to play in the ‘big sand box’ while we waited on Camille and Annie to arrive. Running around playing chase was fun for a very short time since Leia’s mind still was on the stables. When the last two kids arrived we got to go back to see Bill and another horse named Pumpkin.

This time Leia shared her carrot with the horse but only if mommy and sissy helped.
Before we headed home Leia also got to get back on the horse. Since getting to see the horse she has talked about Ms Keri’s ‘big horse’ and how she wants to go ride again. I am thinking her daddy and I may need to take her again soon but we are not going to be buying a horse.

Looks like Secretariat to me. Ride-em Cowgirl!
