Prior to Ivy’s arrival one of our friends had arranged a fire station tour for Leia and several of her friends. We were fortunate that it had been arranged since Leia missed the fire truck day at school. This tour was way better than just seeing the fire truck since the kids were able to get in the truck, watch the fireman put on all his gear, and tour the fire station. Firemen look really different in their gear so letting the kids see them all dressed up is a great idea just in case the unthinkable ever happens; you would not want a child to run and hide instead of getting out of looming danger in a terrible situation. The fireman even let the kids play with the gear. Another bonus was that the tour was in the 2 week window when I still could drive so daddy got to go with us on our play-date.
