Leia

Ivy Arrival

God blessed our family with a second little angel on September 9th, 2011. Ivy Michelle Comfort was born at 8:22am, weighing 7 pounds 12 ounces, and 21 inches long. Mommy fell in love with her at first sight (just like with Leia).

Ivy proved to take after mommy and was late arriving. At 41 weeks Doctor Ross decided to do a c-section and still had to work to get her out (I never knew forceps may be needed in a c-section but they were to get Miss Ivy). Aunt Stacy caught Chris on film playing with his electronic in the prepping area while Lisa was just hanging around waiting for time to pass. Time was passing so slowly waiting on an epidural and to meet Ivy; plus, the very uncomfortable bed was getting to Lisa’s nerves; Mimi was nice enough to massage her back and shoulders (it felt WONDERFUL and got her to relax a little).  Once the time arrived Chris and Mimi got ready to come witness Ivy’s birth as they wheeled Lisa back for the best medical team in the OR to get her on the table. Chris had to use TWO booties to cover ONE foot (of course, there is a picture of it below). Doctor Ross performed the surgery assisted by Doctor Campbell and Aunt Sracy’s friend, Jackie was their to make sure all went well with Lisa’s anesthesia and she did not get sick.

Unfortunately, mommy and daddy were not good at taking pictures at the hospital this time so we do not have many pictures of Miss Ivy’s visitors but we did get some of Leia meeting her little sister/Ivy meeting her big sister. Leia was not sure what to think about Ivy at first and did NOT like mommy in the hospital bed or the IV in mommy’s arm. However, Ivy was so excited to meet her big sister she brought her a ‘big sister present’ (a baby doll with accessories). Ivy wanted to make sure Leia had a baby to take care of when she required mommy’s attention. Leia warmed up to Ivy quickly and was putting her arms out to hold her by the second day; mommy was so glad her prayers had been answered.

Another prayer was that Lisa would recover quickly! While the recovery was not over the day everyone was released from the hospital it was a blessing that  Doctor Campbell released Lisa from the hospital a day earlier than anyone expected. It felt  rushed getting out of the hospital, once again there are not as many pictures of Ivy leaving as we would had liked but it was nice getting to go home. Our first evening home was great! We were able to have yummy dinner with Grandpa, DeeDee, Papa, and Mimi, spend time playing with Leia, and rest peacefully without people coming in and out of the room to check on us. Our family of four was under one roof for the first time on Sunday, September 11th, 2011.

Chris previously posted a few of the professional pictures not too long after they were taken but additonal ones will be uploaded on the next post.
