Ivy Field Trip to Golden Flake Factory

Ivy took her last field trip at GHK to the Golden Flake Factory. She has such a sweet set of friends and Lisa loved getting to go on her last field trip with them. Throughout the whole trip we only got three group pictures since there was a no phone/picture policy except in the assembly room. It was very interesting to hear the history behind the chip company that started in Birmingham in 1923. It takes a 4 pound bag of potatoes to produce a pound of chips. We got to walk through the factory to see the potatoes arrive on the truck through the production until we all got a few snack size bags of ship at the end. When we returned to school everyone got to tell the favorite part of the field trip. the kids favorites were getting to go inside the truck, watching the potatoes get unloaded, the conveyor belt that takes the boxes of chips to the truck for shipment, and eating the chips.
