\n<\/a>Christmas Eve, we usually always head to mimi and papa’s where the whole family comes over for lunch, we play dirty santa, and the kids open gifts. That evening we go to a candle light service as a family then decorate cookies together for Santa. As I woke up on Christmas Eve I realized that Christmas was not going to be like the picture in my head. We were missing a cornerstone of our family; Daddy would not be there wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. The Rhoads were forced to stay home with a very sick little Sara so sister would be missing from the family gathering as well. The plan was for them to head to mom’s house right after our family gathering so we ‘needed’ to head out as soon as our girls woke to try to prevent our princess from getting sick. Our church did not have a candle light service so we missed that tradition not going with the Rhoads or Dobbs’. As I lay in bed Christmas Eve morning thinking about the negatives God reminded me that Daddy was getting to celebrate his first Christmas in the presence of Jesus. Jesus is the reason we celebrate;\u00a0daddy has to have the BEST Christmas celebration ever. Jesus also has given us hope that we can all spend Christmas together again when He calls us home by being born of a virgin over 2,000 years ago and dying on a cross for our sin. We had all the reason in the world to enjoy our Christmas because of the gift God gave us on the first Christmas! Secondly, I thought about two little girls looking forward Christmas despite if anyone else was in the ‘spirit of the season’. There was a yummy Christmas Eve lunch for us to enjoy Mimi cooked. We got to play dirty santa, sure it was on a smaller scale but it was a good time and everyone went home with a nice gift. Mimi and Mark got to go to the candle light service while Ivy slept and the big girls put food out for Santa’s reindeer. WE did not get to decorate cookies together but Sara and Katie decorated cookies with Mimi, Stacy and Mark at Mimi’s while Leia and Ivy decorated them with Grandpa, Deedee, mommy, and daddy at our house. \u00a0Everyone’s cookies turned out great! Time seems so much more precious these days and .<\/p>\n

It was definitely a hard couple days–we were missing a corner of our family puzzle. We went through the motions but there were times our emotions felt empty and missing but God promises to give comfort, peace, and joyful for those who ask. Please continue to cover us in prayers as we walk through this valley and learn to live without a cornerstone in our family.<\/p>\n
